Konst som väcker förvåning i domkyrkan

Härnösands domkyrka får just nu en omfattande renovering och ombyggnation. Ett av de största kyrkoprojekten i Sverige på senare år. Totalkostnaden är 40 miljoner kronor. Korsarmarna förändras och domkyrkan antar mer sitt ursprungliga utseende. Dessutom ska alla målningar, bland annat David von Kölns pampiga altartavla, restauras av konservator.

Domkyrkobesökarna får dock nöja sig i ett år framåt - till den tevesända återinvigningen - med att betrakta denna nya tavla, som pryder den vägg som avskiljer det främre kyrkorummet från långskeppet.

Den jättelika tavlan med sina lättklädda barn har redan väckt en hel del uppmärksamhet och förvåning. Den avviker ganska mycket från hur konst i Svenska kyrkan brukar se ut.

Knubbiga nakna barn med vingar förekommer ofta i konst från barocken och renässansen men dessa så kallade "putti", ibland felaktigt kallade keruber, har ingen biblisk anknytning.
